Alexandra Rose Raisman Bio

Alexandra Rose Raisman, born May 25 1994 she is an American retired gymnast who was an artistic. She was also a two-time Olympian. She was captain of both the 2012 "Fierce Five" and 2016 "Final Five" U.S. women's Olympic gymnastics teams that were winners in their respective team competitions.At the 2012 Olympics in London she was awarded gold medals in floor and team competitions and also the bronze medal on the balance beam, which made her the most decorated American gymnast to compete at the Games. She also won a team gold medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Gabby Douglas and Raisman are the only Americans to win back-to-back gold medals at this event. Raisman took home silver medals for the all-around competition for individuals, as well as the floor exercise. Raisman has silver medals from the all-around individual, and also for the floor exercise. She was also the two-time national champion of floor exercise (2012,2015) in 2012, and the 2012 national champion of balance beam, and five times medalist at the national championships in all around (silver in 2016, and silver in 2012, 2011, 2012, and 2012, 2011, and. In 2013, she was admitted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. Raisman was born on the 25th of May, 1994, in the Boston suburb of Needham, Massachusetts, to Lynn (nee Faber), a former high school gymnast and Rick Raisman. There are three sisters younger than her: Madison, Chloe, and Brett. Raisman is Jewish and states that "I really enjoy being able to not only represent the U.S.A but also the Jewish Community across the world." Raisman began gymnastics at age 18 months old. She attributes her initial enthusiasm for the sport to the "Magnificent Seven", the gold medal-winning U.S. women's team at the 1996 Summer Olympics, whose performances she watched on VHS.She took classes at Exxcel Gymnastics and Climbing through Level 8 when she joined Brestyan's American Gymnastics Club under coaches Mihai and Silvia Brestyan. Raisman was a graduate of Needham High School in 2012 following her senior year via online classes while training for the Olympics.
