Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara, an American actor and singer of Irish origin was a well-known celebrity. The green-eyed beauty with flaming red locks was well-known by her passionate and fiery roles in various American films. Her beauty and grace were highly praised. She was also referred to as the 'Queen Of Technicolor and was a household name in Hollywood. Her onscreen characters reflected her strong, courageous spirit that fought for recognition and survival in the male-dominated society. She called herself "the tough Irish lass" and would not be willing to sacrifice respect for others in order to secure the roles that she was entitled to by merit. She stood up for the injustices and unjust treatment of female actors during her film career, and gained a lot if fans. The autobiography she wrote, "Tis herself", was published in 2004 and provided an open description of her experience, as well as her struggles when she made her way up the ladder to success. She was an adventurous person who wasn't afraid of performing her own stunts. She appeared as an actress in more than 60 films and was the recipient of a fair amount of international fame. After leaving Parra and remarried in the year 1968 to Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a brigadier in the past, former chief pilot, and an early pioneer in transatlantic aviation, just to mention a few achievements. O'Hara was retired a couple of years after their wedding. Blair however, died in a tragic plane accident in 1978. O'Hara's happiness was short-lived. She was diagnosed with uterine cancer in the same year. She underwent an immediate operation. She was capable of recovering. She suffered six heart attacks, short-term memories loss and type 2 diabetes over the next years. O'Hara was 95 years old. She peacefully passed away in Boise on the 24th October of 2015.
