Briga Heelan

Heelan was born in Andover (Massachusetts) to Kimball Heelan, actress and Lowell Public Schools teacher, and Kevin Heelan playwright. Conor is her older brother. The father of Heelan, as well being a performer, has been a faculty member at Phillips Andover Academy since 1983. Heelan was a student at the Walnut Hill School for the Arts in the fall of 1983, after which she spent a year studying at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Heelan moved to the University of Southern California. In 2009, she received a Bachelor's of Arts degree. Heelan was given the James B. Pendleton Award upon graduation for her exceptional contributions to the USC School of Dramatic Arts. Heelan decided to pursue musical theatre. She met her Ground Floor co-star, Skylar Astin during a musical theatre convention. Cougar Town was the breakout TV character. She was named an unrepeatable character on Undateable which aired three episodes, including the pilot. Because both Bill Lawrence's Ground Floor as well as Undateable were multi-camera comedies they are able to be shot simultaneously. She also appeared on the pilot episode of Season 10. Regarding Heelan's role in Ground Floor the TV critic Alan Sepinwall said Heelan is "simply wonderful as Jenny: warm and quirky with a strong and independent character". The Los Angeles Times described Heelan as "making Ground Floor watchable" and described her as "remarkably alive on the spot". She makes whatever that she touches feel real. I recommend you to be tuned in and enjoy her work.
